Adirondack Cruise

On a beautiful sunny Friday morning, September 7th, 13 vettes from our club began our venture to the Adirondack area for the annual “vettefest” in Lake George.  About ½ way there, Mike Cashen, due to a right rear tire problem, chose to head back home rather than risk more damage to his vette.  The rest of us continued on and finally reached our destination.  We had cocktails, dinner and then assembled in the caravan going to downtown Lake George for the “ Hot Rod festival cruise around the town”.  The weather was hot and humid, the cars were really loud but we had a great time!  On Saturday after breakfast, we traveled with over 60 other vettes through the mountains to Fort Ticonderoga, NY and saw a “reenactment” and how the soldiers and their families lived and camped out for the weekend and also toured the Fort.  After dinner on Saturday night there was dancing and awards.  On Sunday the weather was dark and raining and with many hours to travel, we decided we could not stay for the vette show.  We missed having Mike with us for the weekend but we were thankful that he made it home OK.  His vette, well that’s another story.  We left some great memories behind us and hopefully will return again next year.
